Case Study 5 - Quarry

This particular site was a quarry processing a high silica stone and was situated in close proximity to surrounding residential areas. The site did have an old dust suppression system but it was not working satisfactorily.

Best-Chem were invited to offer their recommendations, and opted for a new Best-Chem Foam Dust Suppression System. Aside from some of the pipework and the compressed air supply, the Foam Generating Unit was of an inefficient design that did not offer the control of a latest Best-Chem system. The system applied foam at the crushers and at certain transfer points. No foam was applied near the screens, because the dust is sufficiently dampened at the crushers. This ensures moisture addition is kept to a minimum.

The results however can be clearly seen at the final screens. The first video was taken with the foam system off. The system was then switched on and after 15 minutes the second video was taken.
