Average reduction in airborne dust using foam systemsA Foam Dust Control System is a highly effective method for suppressing dust emissions from mineral processing and handling operations.
The aim of using foam is to efficiently dampen the fines, to prevent them from becoming airborne, whilst adding minimal moisture to the product.
The use of foam allows for far less moisture addition compared to traditional wet suppression systems and the results can far exceed those achievable via other dust control methods.
For comparison with other techniques click here.
In most cases, Foam Systems are implemented where other methods have been tried and have failed to adequately control the dust.
Increasingly however, Foam Dust Control Systems are being installed in new plants from the outset.

Why Foam?
Achieves up to 90% reduction in fugitive dust emissions
Ideal for water-scarce sites needing efficient dust control solutions
Keeps dust suppressed throughout crushing, screening, and storage
Uses up to 70% less moisture than conventional water spray systems
How Foam Works: Foam System Vs Water Spray System
When it comes to dust suppression, not all systems are created equal. Traditional water spray systems simply wet surfaces, often requiring large volumes of water and risking blockages, screen blinding, or excess moisture in the material.
Up to 50 times as much water is required to have the same effect as foam.
Only effective when moisture content is not a concern.
High moisture content increases the likelihood of blinding screens or blocking chutes.
Access to high volumes of water is required.
For industries where dust is a persistent challenge, foam systems provide a cleaner, more efficient, and more reliable solution than traditional water sprays.

Frequently Asked Questions
The water used does not need to be potable. Best-Chem foam systems are equipped with specially designed large-orifice nozzles that are resistant to blocking. However, sediment in the water can affect pumps and valves, so we recommend filtration to 50 microns.
No. Our systems use custom-engineered nozzles with large orifices, specifically designed to prevent blockages and ensure consistent foam delivery.
Water usage varies depending on the application, but typically ranges between 0.1% and 0.5% of the material’s weight—substantially lower than conventional water spray systems.
Costs depend on the scale and requirements of the project. We can provide budget pricing once we understand your specific needs. Costs are typically divided into two areas:
Capital Cost: Equipment and installation
Operating Cost: Foam agent and routine maintenance
